Everest Base Camp Trekking

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring adventures, leading you to the base of Earth’s highest peak, Mt. Everest, which reaches 8,848.86 meters (29,031 feet). Positioned in the high Khumbu Valley in northeastern Nepal, Everest straddles the border between Nepal and Tibet, China, with its North Face visible from across the border.

From Lukla, the trail follows a gradual path through Sherpa villages adorned with prayer monuments, entering Sagarmatha National Park, known for its unique flora, fauna, and the world’s highest peaks. As you progress, you’ll ascend to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant hub of the Khumbu Sherpas, where you’ll take a rest day to acclimate.

Continuing, the trail meanders through coniferous and deciduous forests to the picturesque Tengboche, renowned for its monastery and stunning views of Mt. Everest. The trek then leads you beyond the tree line into the arid terrain towards Everest Base Camp, with overnight stops in Dingboche and Lobuche.

The landscape becomes a rocky moraine as you reach Gorakshep, situated between Everest Base Camp and the high Kalapathar Hill. Here, you’ll reach the ultimate goal of standing beneath Everest, surrounded by dramatic arctic-like scenery, ice fields, and glaciers. The Khumbu Icefall, a major source of the Dudh Koshi River, adds to the breathtaking vista.

After experiencing the grandeur of Everest, you’ll ascend Kalapathar for a panoramic view of the mountain and surrounding peaks. With the trek’s highlights accomplished, you’ll return via the Pheriche Valley route, retracing your steps to Namche Bazaar and then back to Lukla. A scenic flight from Lukla will conclude your unforgettable Everest Base Camp adventure, bringing you back to Kathmandu with memories of an extraordinary journey.
